These guys are the best butchers around and trust me, I’ve hunted and done my research! From Springvale to Ringwood, I’ve tried different butchers and now will only support McKays. The quality is top shelf and they have a large range of cuts and products. If there isn’t something in particular I’m after (a rarity), a substitute is always recommended. The friendly customer service is A+. The quality and range is A+. The knowledge and info shared is always sound and accurate, brilliant cooking tips, A+. The prices are *so* reasonable considering the quality, I’ve paid more for lesser quality elsewhere, A+. The fact they still take last minute phone orders, when some don’t, win! A+. I now go armed with a list and Tupperware containers and stock up my freezer because we don’t like the meat anywhere else. I’m not affiliated to the business in any way and have nothing to gain by this review. It just took me a long time to find a good butcher and now I like to tell everyone about them :) ~ Tiffany P

This is hands down the BEST butcher in the area! Nothing is too hard for these guys. Always have the best cuts and are happy to trim up or cut fresh for you while you wait if what you’re after isn’t displayed. The quality is fantastic and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and right there with advice or a chat while you’re being served. You don’t see this kind of service much anymore. The most friendly butcher retailer in the area! They sponsored our school’s sausage sizzling held at Bunnings today with their home made tasty sausages. From the moment when I was greeted by Kevin to the actual collection day assisted by Cameron, these guys are absolutely delightful to deal with! We are very lucky to find you McKays! This place has the BEST sausages. I have tried others in the area, even Wellington Village and they are awful - I love my salt (probably too much) but everywhere else I go (especially the IGA) have the worst sausages. Not even the kids will eat them as they are WAY too salty. This place is the opposite - TOP quality!! Perfectly balanced ingredients. I would prefer to pay more for quality, but these people deliver without the price tag attached. Very friendly staff, great presentation, always very helpful. I have asked for special cuts, and they have always been willing and able to help. I am very impressed with this place and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants quality. These people do not take short cuts (no pun intended!) Sometimes it can be a bit 'hit and miss' with quality, but Mc Kays butchers always seem to get it right. I have never had anything that wasn't 'top notch'. I am confident that if I ever did have something that wasn't quite right, they would do whatever they could to fix it. Just for the record, I am a normal shopper - Don't know these people personally and gain nothing from this independent review. It's as honest as they come! ~ Chris B

FINALLY!!!! A local butcher you can count on for the best meat in the area!...the previous butchers that occupied this space were inconsistent and way more miss than hit...and the same can be said about the butchers at Wellington Village. I an not one for writing reviews but I felt compelled in this instance. I'm fussy about produce, and I am more than angry when I shell out over $40 a kilo for a cut of meat that should never be any less than melt in your mouth, and I find it's below par....but.... not any more!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for bringing quality meat back to the Rowville/Lysterfield area. We are foodies, I love to cook and host many a dinner party and your meat is top notch, fresh, lean, tender and tasty. Since the butchers in Woolworths were removed in store (which were surprisingly good) I've been waiting for another option to arrive. You out butcher everyone in the area including surrounding suburbs including Knox. Well done McKay's family!! Your many years and two (or is it 3??) generations of experience and pride in your reputation in providing amazing meat products and friendly service truly shows. We’ve been coming here ever since we moved to the Rowville area three years ago. Staff are always helpful and super friendly. The quality is second to none. So much so my mum brings her camping freezer down from Canberra when she visits and fills it up every time. Would recommend Kev and the team everyday of the week. ~ Alexandra F

the gang here always takes care of me, on carnivore diet so i need some good quality meats frequently and these guys always deliver, lucky to have them as my local, the flavoured sausages and the wagyu burgers are always amazing XD ~ Nola B

i love the service here, i called late last night and asked if they had fillet mignon in stock and they didn't but were more than happy to make the order and it was ready within the hour. HIGHLY recommend if you have last minute dinner party. ~ Anielle J
